That kind soul said don't bother, they offered to upload their fully functional Oblivion with Bash, OBSE, and DLC for me. The above is paraphrased from the description of the state of the game given me on another forum when expressing my ire at this quagmire, having just bought the game a couple of months earlier and facing having to buy a different copy (probably GOTY) if I wanted to use Bash/OBSE/DLC. So I decided to stick with what I had: V1.0 installed from disk and updated (having had to reinstall twice due to incompatibilities).

So you must be certain to get the exact OBSE and the exact DLC to match the exact variant, not version, of the game. Did you install V1.0 and update it? Did you buy the latest version on disk? Did you get it from steam? Did you download it from another source? Common logic dictates that Vx.x of any software should be identical no matter the source, a concept apparently foreign to Bethesda (good thing they do not make yardsticks).

While there is only one final version of the game - V (I believe) - there must be a half dozen mutually incompatible variants of this, depending on where you acquired the game. Not so much a plunge as disgust at what I deem a major shortcoming of Oblivion.
